Indian and Nepalese Cuisine: Mutton Dal Bhat at Everest Khajaghar, Okubo

When I asked for a refill, they brought not only rice and dal, but also curry broth. That's unusual.

Come to think of it, I remember reading in a Nepalese book from the 80s that "Dal Bhat is a dish where you get refills of rice, dal, and curry broth without meat."

The clientele is unique; usually, restaurants around here are full of Nepalese people, but here, everyone was middle-aged or older Japanese. Moreover, half of the customers were women and seemed to be regulars. It seems to be popular with more than just curry enthusiasts. Perhaps it's the personality of the female owner.

She seemed busy working alone (she was both the chef and server), so customers waited for her to finish cooking before paying. The customers were kind.

This is a great restaurant. I had a wonderful time.
